Backend Developer (Python)
Requirements
Python (3.10+) — 3 to 4 years of hands-on backend experience
FastAPI — building and maintaining REST APIs
PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, indexing
Familiarity with async Python —
asyncio, background tasks
Nice to have
Experience building or working with RAG pipelines or LLM integrations
Redis — caching, pub/sub
Docker — containerization and local dev setup
Basic understanding of WebSockets
Prior experience at a startup or early-stage product
Preferred candidates
A developer who has shipped backend features in production, can read and reason about existing code quickly, and is comfortable with ambiguity. We're a small team — you'll be expected to make decisions, not just execute them.
How We Work with AI
We encourage the use of AI tools as part of the development workflow. AI can help you learn faster, improve productivity, and automate repetitive tasks.
However, we expect every engineer to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals and take ownership of the code they write. You should be able to read, debug, modify, and explain your implementation and technical decisions.
If you rely entirely on AI-generated code without understanding how it works, this role is unlikely to be a good fit.
